Data source node

Devices added in the Navixy user account can be used in the IoT Logic processing. All manipulations in the IoT Logic are made before the data reaches the Navixy monitoring servers. For example all new attributes created in the IoT Logic can be used in Navixy and filtered parameters will not reach the Navixy at all. In this guide we will consider the “Data source“ node and the process of adding objects from Navixy to the IoT Logic product.

Data source interface

After you created a flow you need to drag and drop a “Data source“ node to the workspace and specify all settings displayed on it. This is a start node of any flow and data processing can’t work without it.

Create data source interface

Endpoint name – is a name for this node. Here you can specify a manufacturer, models or any other information that will help you to understand what devices are used in this node.

Protocol – is an option for manufacturer protocol. For example, you can select Teltonika, Queclink, Suntech, Jimi or any other protocol you want to work with and a specific model.

Transport protocol – here you need to specify a transport protocol: HTTP, TCP, UDP or MQTT.

After these settings are specified, the device list in the right part of the interface will be filtered and you will see devices which are fit to this set of parameters (manufacturer and model). When you click the “Save“ button the node will be closed. After that you can continue building your data flow in the product.

It worth noting that there can be several source nodes in one workplace in the IoT Logic. You can merge several streams if you want. But please remember that different manufacturers and even different models of one manufacturer can have different datasets.

Types of data sources

At this moment all devices from Navixy UI can be used in the IoT Logic product. It means that the list of the data sources is the following:

  • GPS devices

  • OEM platforms

  • MQTT devices and gateways

  • MQTT/Kafka connectors

Some of devices works via API polling. This type of data sources is also supported. This list will be updated along with the evolution of the IoT Logic product.

Data source editing

After the node is created, you can see it on the flow window. Since this is a start node, other nodes such as “Initiate attribute” and “Output endpoint” can be connected to this one.

If you want to edit a Data source node, you can simply click it and then edit interface, which is similar to the “Create data source“ window, will appear:

Edit data source window

Please note that since this is a start node, it will affect other nodes in the data flow if you change the models and/or manufacturer.
